Introduction PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Design, install, administer and optimise company servers and related components to achieve high performance of the various business applications supported by configuring the servers as necessary. Ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configuring all new implementations and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment. Managed the physical security, integrity and safety of the data centre/server farm.
Duties & Responsibilities Server Management:
Design and install company servers and related components in accordance with ICT strategies. Develop and maintain configuration materials and server documentation Manage enterprise directory services and supporting server infrastructure. Receive and respond to incoming calls and/or emails regarding desktop problems on the server and server resource issues; prioritise and respond to helpdesk tickets as appropriate. Perform file system configuration and management; define and perform server backups and recovery procedures. Management and maintenance of the Virtual cluster. Migration servers into the Virtual cluster. Management and maintenance of the SIEM system. Management and maintenance of the Anti-Virus system.
Event Management:
Monitor server and application performance as well as respond to issues thereof. Serve as a cornerstone for escalating server issues; provide timely response to customer escalations. Monitor and test system performance and provide performance statistics and reports. Monitor Antivirus, log 360 and Network Activity tools.
Patch Management:
Plan and implement server upgrades, maintenance fixes and vendor-supplied patches.
Transformation & Human Capital Management:
Participate in the performance management process. Participate in staff meetings as and when required to discuss operational performance and business issues. Lives the Denel Values and demonstrates behaviour that is consistent with the culture of Denel.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Grade 12 CompTIA A+, N+ or S+ Certificate Microsoft Certified Server Administrator Certificate Information Technology Diploma/Degree and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Certification will be ideal.
Experience Required:
5 years Working experience of Patch Management, Release Management, Project Management, Change Management, Configuration Management, Capacity Management and systems Development Life Cycles. 5 years Exceptional abilities at load balancing, clustering and caching procedures and processes. 5 years Strong working experience of Virtual Management technologies. 5 years General experience of storage technologies such as SAN or NAS. 5 years Experience installing, configuring and maintaining all manners of server hardware and associated network equipment, including SCSI, RAID and I/O topology. 5 years Strong working experience of Active Directory, DNS, IIS, and DHCP client/server networks. 5 years Experience with server performance tuning and monitoring tools 5 years Strong working experience of backup and restore strategies and management
