Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller / Financial Manager to join the finance team on a maternity cover contract of approximately six months, with the possibility of the role becoming permanent.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Group CFO and play a key role in managing the financial reporting, operational finance, and financial governance across multiple group entities.
This is a hands-on role requiring a candidate comfortable managing multi-entity structures, property finance, operational businesses, and complex financial reporting requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Controls
Preparation and review of monthly management accounts
Oversight of financial reporting across multiple group entities and property SPVs
Preparation of group reporting packs and consolidations
Maintain and strengthen financial controls and reporting processes
Review and oversight of balance sheet reconciliations
Support preparation of board and shareholder financial reporting
Property & Operational Finance
Financial oversight of property operations including student accommodation and commercial properties
Review of tenant billing, rental income, and recoveries
Systems & Data
Work with property management systems including MDA / MRI (or similar property accounting platforms)
Analyse operational data extracted from property management systems
Ensure accurate integration between property systems and financial reporting
Tax & Compliance
Oversight of VAT compliance across group entities
Review of corporate income tax calculations and provisional tax submissions
Identify and manage tax risks within the group structure
Cash Flow & Treasury
Monitor group cash flow and liquidity
Assist with cash flow forecasting and treasury management
Support payment processes and approvals
Assist with bank reporting requirements and lender information requests
Debt Facilities & Bank Reporting
Assist with financial reporting required by lenders
Desired Experience & Qualification Qualifications
Degree, CIMA, or equivalent professional financial qualification preferred
Alternatively a strong Financial Manager with relevant property finance experience
Experience
Minimum 5–10 years financial management experience, ideally including:
Property or real estate finance
Multi-entity environments
Financial reporting and consolidations
Operational finance oversight
Technical Skills
Strong management accounting and financial reporting
Experience with MDA / MRI property management systems (highly advantageous)
Strong Excel and financial modelling skills
Understanding of South African VAT and tax compliance
Ability to manage complex multi-entity reporting structures
