Introduction To support the development, implementation, and monitoring of ethics and integrity frameworks across the organisation, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and governance requirements while promoting a culture of ethical conduct and accountability.
Duties & Responsibilities Ethics Policy and Code of Conduct Development
Draft, maintain, and communicate organizational ethics-related policies, including:
Gifts and entertainment. Conflicts of interest and due diligence. Extra-remunerative work. Code of Ethics. Lifestyle audits. Anti-bribery and Anti-Corruption Policy. Whistleblower Policy. Ensure policies and ethical decision-making are embedded in key organizational processes. Address emerging ethical risks and business challenges through updates to the code of conduct. Periodically review and update policies and the code of conduct to maintain relevance and regulatory compliance. Facilitate executive approval and organization-wide communication of ethics policies and the code of conduct.
Advisory and Guidance
Provide actionable guidance on ethical dilemmas, conflicts of interest, and compliance with the code of conduct. Resolve conflicts of interest with strategic, compliant solutions. Support leadership and employees in high-risk or sensitive business decisions. Act as a confidential ethics and code-of-conduct consultant for employees at all levels.
Escalate significant ethical or conduct breaches to executive management or the board. Ethics risk assessment and management Governance and compliance frameworks Investigations and whistle-blowing procedures Policy development and monitoring Stakeholder engagement and advisory skills Perform ethical culture assessments.
Ethics, Reputational Risk, Monitoring, and Reporting
Identify, assess, and monitor ethical and reputational risks across the organisation. Conduct periodic risk assessments to inform policy updates, mitigation strategies, and decision-making. Track and investigate ethical concerns, misconduct, and code-of-conduct violations impartially. Report ethical trends, conduct violations, and emerging risks to executive leadership. Measure the effectiveness of ethics programs and adherence to the code of conduct through KPIs and audits. Provide recommendations and corrective actions to proactively address risks and maintain organisational integrity.
Training and Awareness
Develop training programs focused on ethics, code of conduct, and compliance requirements. Conduct workshops on ethical decision-making, code-of-conduct application, and expected behaviours. Launch awareness campaigns to embed organizational values and promote adherence to the code of conduct. Evaluate the impact of training on ethical culture, compliance, and employee behaviour. Encourage employee engagement in ethics initiatives and feedback mechanisms.
Culture and Risk Integration
Embed ethics and code-of-conduct principles into business strategy, governance, and risk frameworks. Promote transparency, accountability, and integrity across all organizational functions. Identify and mitigate ethical and conduct-related risks in operations and processes. Champion initiatives that reinforce a speak-up culture and employee trust. Monitor organizational culture to ensure alignment with ethical standards and the code of conduct.
Desired Experience & Qualification QUALIFICATIONS
Grade 12. B-degree in Ethics, Governance, Risk Management, or related field.
TECHNICAL / LEGAL CERTIFICATION / PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION
Ethics Officer Certification Programme (EOCP) Accredited.
EXPERIENCE
10 years’ experience in ethics, compliance, or governance roles. Demonstrated ability to manage ethics programs and conduct investigations. Knowledge of King IV, PFMA, and relevant compliance frameworks. Experience advising on ethical dilemmas and supporting organisational culture change.
